Behind The Collection

Inspired by the Southeast Asian myth, Naga is a serpentine dragon who guards the people of Bali. He sits atop a volcano by day, fiercely protecting his people and the land. Each night, he dives into the ocean to visit his true love, the Pearl. Come morning, as he flies back to his volcano, he nourishes the earth with water from his scales.

The Legend of Naga The Legend of Naga

According to the Balinese Legend, the Naga (NAH-gah, “dragon” in Balinese) lives high on top of one of Bali’s three volcanoes. By day he stands guard, protecting the people of Bali. In the evening, he dives from the volcano into the depths of the sea to visit his one true love, the pearl. In the morning, as he rises up from the sea to return to his volcano, the water cascading off his scales nourishes the rice fields and forests, bringing prosperity to the people and the land.
